A makeup artist who suffered years of severe acne has praised an $11.99 skincare product, claiming it transformed her skin in a matter of weeks.
Thanh Vo, from Sydney, started developing irritating breakouts at the age of 25 – but she noticed her complexion worsen at the start of the global pandemic in 2020.

Not only was she struggling with extremely sore and aggressive spots on her face, her wallet took a huge hit after everything she tried hadn’t worked.
Despite her excruciating battle, the now 29-year-old claims she managed to clear up her skin in one month after she discovered Carbon Theory facial cleansing bar, made with natural ingredients like tea tree oil, charcoal and shea butter.
Previously, Thanh says she was struggling with acne over four years.
“The worst it had ever been was at the start of our first lockdown when I was 27,” she tells 7Life.
‘Aggressive and painful’
“I was so insecure, I just wanted to cover it up with makeup everyday, which didn’t help the cause either. It was really aggressive and painful – a lot were under the skin so they were so painful.
“My skin scars very easily as well – so even when I didn’t touch the pimples they would scar. My confidence suffered a lot. I didn’t want anyone looking at my face and I never took any photos.”
She tried everything imaginable to treat her acne – but nothing seemed to work.
“Getting to the root cause of my acne was a mission,” she says.
“I didn’t know why my skin was breaking out the way it did. So I tried all these topical treatments, skin needling, every single peel, Korean 12-step skin routine and western skincare… I spent so much money, but nothing worked.
“I even tried reducing sugar, dairy and processed food intake.”
As she tried different types of skincare, she noticed the products did nothing but “aggravated” her complexion and “damaged” her skin barrier.
Results in four weeks
However, Thanh says she saw dramatic improvements in her skin within four weeks of using the cleansing bar, available at Priceline Australia.
“It took about a month before I started to see results,” she says.
Dermatologically proven to prevent breakouts, the charcoal claims to draw out deep down bacteria, toxins and excess oil, the tea tree oil reduces inflammation while the shea butter keeps skin nourished and hydrated.
“I feel so much better,” Thanh says.
“My skin has cleared up so much, and my scars are starting to fade. I feel so much better leaving the house without foundation now.”
She says she keeps her skincare regime “very simple now”.
“Mornings, I don’t cleanse. I just go straight in with a serum, moisturiser and SPF50+. At night I just cleanse and pop a night cream on,” Thanh says.
“One product I swear by would be SPF50+ hands down. I can’t leave the house without it on.”
