Typically, a car trunk is the primary storage area for cargo or luggage in a sedan, coupe or convertible. While a car trunk is commonly used for transporting luggage, it may also be home to a spare tire, emergency roadside kit, or sports equipment that gets shuttled back and forth from practice to home.
Many cars also offer some variation of rear seat adjustments to increase cargo space, including pass-throughs for skis, lumber, and hockey sticks.
Large cars traditionally have the biggest trunks, but that’s not always true these days. The Newsweek team has compiled a list of the most spacious car trunks available in 2021.
No. 15 – 2021 Honda Civic
Rear cargo space: 15.1 cubic feet
The 2021 Honda Civic opens the list as most sedan models have 15.1 cubic feet of cargo space but the trunk space varies by model. Civic Hatchbacks have the most with up 25.7 cubic feet of cargo space, and 46.2 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
No. 14 – 2021 Nissan Altima
Rear cargo space: 15.4 cubic feet

Rear cargo space: 15.7 cubic feet
The 2021 Genesis G90 has an average-sized trunk for a luxury large sedan at 15.7 cubic feet of cargo space. The sedan comes standard with a hands-free power trunk lid.

Rear cargo space: 16.3 cubic feet
The 2021 Chrysler 300 comes with 16.3 cubic feet of trunk room, a typical amount of space for the large car class. The 60/40-split-folding rear seats expand the cargo area so owners can store longer items with ease.

Rear cargo space: 16.5 cubic feet
The 2021 Dodge Charger has 16.5 cubic feet of trunk space, which is about average for the large car class, and has additional storage when its rear seats are folded down. The trunk narrows as it nears the rear seats and opening is a bit high, so loading heavier items might prove to be troublesome
